Wedding Photography Prices

Day Package @ €800ph

We begin at the ceremony venue 15 minutes before the time the ceremony starts (we’ll arrive a bit earlier so we have time to get set up) and concludes once the call to meal is made, usually between 5pm or 6pm. This package is ideal for couples who simply want to have coverage of the ceremony, wedding portraits, bridal party, and group photos of families afterwards.

If the speeches are before the meal and required to be covered there is an additional €100 charge.
Half Day Rate is only available for locations within 45 minutes drive of Dublin Airport.

Day + Preparations & First Dances @ €1500

This is same as the day rate but with extended coverage, including speeches, up until the first dances. We're happy to split between both morning preparation venues if they are reasonably close - Mike goes to the Groom and Jill to the Bride. After the evening meal, while the band set up, we may work the room taking informal photos of your guests which are always fun to have; if any of them want photos taken they just have to ask. We tend to stay for the first 20/30 minutes or so of dancing which allows us to capture not just the Bride & Groom's first dance but also be around for when there are more people up on the dance floor so that we can capture the spirit of the evening's entertainment.

What our services and fees cover

We have a few wedding photography packages to choose from which cover most situations couples ask for. All prices include two wedding photographers, Mike & Jill O'Dwyer, as well as free travel and personal usage rights to all your images we shoot of your wedding day; you don't need to refer back to us for permissions to use them.

Typically we shoot between 1,000 and 5,000 images at a wedding, and of these we might process between 100 and 400 approximately, although sometimes we may process more, or less. All images are shot in colour on Canon 5D cameras, but we would also usually convert about 25% into black and white as well.

It's important to us that couples, and their families, feel comfortable around us because that's what allows us to get close to each moment as it happens in order to photograph it. We're easy going and not flustered by anything that might happen during the day, we're used to schedules being changed at the last minute or the weather not behaving as it ought to; you enjoy your day and let us worry about getting great photographs.

While we can offer advice based on experience, we never insist on doing things in any particular way, we prefer to listen to what you both want and then agree on a shooting schedule with you for the day.

Meals:
Only if we're shooting until the first dance do we request that a meal be provided, or the cost of one be covered, because it is a long working day. Wedding venues usually have a somewhere nearby to the dining room, and they can usually provide a meal from the bar menu.

File Transfer:
Aside from the images we choose to process, usually 100-400 out of the thousands we shoot, we also allow you take away any files we don't process; there's no reason for us to hang on to them and you might see something in an image that we missed which might be important to you.

Of course, that will include all the imperfect images too, the ones we take while testing light readings, composition and focussing. We keep copies for a year or so, but there's no guarantees after that as drives can fail - we advise couples to back their files up on at least one other device.

As wedding photography can take up anywhere from 80GB - 300GB of data (the vast majority of that is taken up by the RAW files) we do need to transfer those files by a portable drive. We use Apple Macs, so if you are supplying a drive it needs to be Mac compatible - if you have a PC drive we can format it for both Mac and PC, but this erases all data on the drive. Portable drives can be bought in places like PC World and usually cost between €50 and €80 depending on what is in stock.

For couple living abroad who get married in Ireland and won’t be available to view their wedding photos at the studio, we upload low resolution watermarked files for approval. Once payment is made we send on higher resolution JPGs via Dropbox, so you get them immediately, and will post the portable drive to you with all your wedding files on it.

Copyright
Once fees are paid in full, we automatically assign each couple the rights to use the image files in any way they choose for unlimited personal use - they don’t have to refer back to us if they want to get prints done, use them in a album, or share them online via social media.

This does not mean that individuals other than the photographer own the digital image files or the photographs, no more than they would own a movie just because they bought a DVD or a novel because they bought a book; image files which are created by photographers assign the photographer automatic ownership under law and, as the creators, the rights to copy or reproduce the images, as well as the right to be acknowledged as the sole creator of the image, remains with the photographer alone.

We do like to use wedding photographs for promotional purposes in order to showcase our work, but if couples would rather we didn't use them it's simply a case of asking, we're more than happy to oblige.

Turnaround Time:
How quickly we can process your wedding photographs depends on the time of year.
