Fiona & Martin chose the wonderful Castle Durrow, in County Laois, as the venue for their wedding reception. Their family homes are based in Wicklow and Kilkenny so it was quite useful to have two wedding photographers on this assignment, Mike went to the Groom and Jill to the Bride for morning preparations. The wedding ceremony took place in Kilquiggan, County Wicklow, on a typical overcast March afternoon.
It was a bit of a drive to Castle Durrow but we made good time, even with a request to stop off in Tullow, although light was beginning to fade we still had just enough time to grab some wedding portraits and work through a list of family group shots. Fiona and Martin kept things simple and were really well organised, so we were able to work fast, spending no more than 20 minutes with them and 20 more with their families, before the Call to Meal.
The reception rooms at Castle Durrow are wonderful, all high ceilings and chandeliers, and beautifully decorated. The Dining Room is spacious, but tucked away and very private, so you feel the whole place is yours and everyone can relax in good company.
